Childcare activities

6th February 2012

Activities for children can vary widely according to the season, age of the child, and personality of the individual child, but may include some or all of the following:

  • Playing with toys/games
  • Singing/music: singing songs and nursery rhymes builds confident communicators
  • Reading, writing
  • Drawing, painting and colouring
  • Garden play: outdoor toys, sandbox, water, slide, etc.
  • Safe gardening
  • Walking and playing in the park/playground
  • Visits to the shop/library
  • Cooking
  • Handicrafts: working with tissue paper, papier mache, making piƱatas, etc.
  • Computer time: singalong videos, games
  • Free play: time on their own to learn and develop through exploration
  • Tidy-up time: not just a good habit! Tidying up, sorting out and arranging are important early maths concepts.

...and much, much more.
